Notes & Spoiler
(The latest information is on the ground)
# The premiere episode of Stargate Universe will be two hours long (technically, Parts 1 and 2 of the three-parter), and the first time at Syfy Channel on the 2nd October.
# Stargate universe went before cameras in February 2009, at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia (where Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis were shot). Show creator Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper as co-show runners, and the intention, even a lot of the show, Gateworld Wright said in an interview.
# “Brad and I have essentially a document shows that the concept and characters for the series. This is not a sales document, to share the financing. It is very, very high on the agenda of things for MGM underway. They ask us. Basically, MGM is to say, Brad and me, “When can you be ready? When you can actually physically write the screenplay and production? “These things take time. You are not just born and grow on their own, unfortunately.
“… In [the] typical Stargate world, it is not really a pilot project. It is a first. We sell in general, and with a full season of television.
“… I can tell you about the third Stargate series, conceptually how we have conceived it, is that it is a completely separates third place. Much more than Atlantis was. Atlantis was much more of a spin-off series of SG-1. It was born out of SG-1.
“The idea for this – this is like a broken record – but it started as a film idea. We were originally talking about them. We have tried to contribute ideas for a Stargate feature. No SG-1-function or a Atlantis function, but a function that would fit into the Stargate franchise that we feel we’ve created. As the studio, if they are to spend what X million dollars on a movie, it must appeal to a wide audience. Maybe even a bigger audience than that to show loyalty.
“Although mathematically, if everyone around the world who saw the show went to the movie, it would be a great success! Still, the studio is thinking bigger. And I think we were thinking bigger. We thought, ‘How can we create a third arm to the franchise that is very connective, and the fans will feel is born out of the material that, but at the same time is very much what alone? ”
“So, when it became clear that a third series was a realistic possibility at this point, from the studio of view, we have found out how to optimize that idea and give it legs a bit, as it would be ad – hoc history. We are always in the back of our minds, even when searching for thisConcept, thought it might be a third series. The idea was that we are this great movie and then use that to launch the series. But now that the story has the central idea for the new show.
“One of the things that we love about Stargate is that we have. It is our military. It is our scientists. It is our people. And we go in the galaxy and the universe to discover all the wonders that are not there, and dealing with our own borders against things that are much more advanced to us. This is evident. It is what we are every day in medicine and science and astrophysics. We are only children. We always want to say that everything was Stargate-related.
“It plays into the mythology that has been established in advance, but it does not directly relate to something that is either in series, SG-1 or Atlantis.”
(Series co-writer Robert C. Cooper, in an exclusive interview with Gateworld)
# If the Stargate universe has been here, how different do you think that this series needs to continue the franchise and new viewers? How closely, on the other hand, it needs to stay to the established formula?
“Well, you take the nail on the head, because it has both. It is to feel like Stargate, and it has the feeling again. And this is the rope that is the balance, you have to wait and that is the challenge. To put it in the simplest terms, if we only ever done SG-2 in a row it’s never worked. It is not the CSI model. And it is open, because the heroes that our team is.
“… The pitch [the network] was very good. … We share an expensive series. The idea that we have, is not cheap. Universe, if we do, how we want to do it, is very expensive, and I think we have proven ourselves, so that “Can we please have enough money to make it right this time?” And if not, then frankly I do not want to do. What is wrong?
“… The Stargate Universe, the idea is that it happens on a ship that is part of an ancient attempt to set in motion probably millions of years ago. They saw that they never wear, but we can. You have a little busy with the whole thing Ascension.
“My goal for the creation of this experiment, which is literally a ship in the world, and to send a pre Seeding of the galaxies in which they encounter with Star Gates. And that they will one day use the ninth chevron to it, and that’s what Stargate Universe is. “
